Changes and Leadership of the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh

Abstract

Change and leadership are pivotal aspects in the success of any organization, including the role of the Education and Culture Attaché (Atdikbud) at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Riyadh. This study explores how leadership strategy changes implemented by Atdikbud KBRI Riyadh influence the effectiveness of their duties, particularly in education and cultural fields. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis, this research draws on empirical data from official documents, in-depth interviews, and direct observations of policy implementation. The findings reveal that the leadership role of Atdikbud in addressing globalization challenges and the dynamics of diplomatic relations significantly impacts the quality of services in education and culture. The changes implemented include innovative programs, strengthening bilateral cooperation in education, and enhancing cultural diplomacy through various Indonesian art and cultural promotion activities. Furthermore, the transformation towards a more participative and collaborative leadership approach fosters a conducive work environment and encourages innovation. This study concludes that changes in leadership strategy at Atdikbud KBRI Riyadh have significantly contributed to supporting Indonesia's diplomatic vision. Recommendations are provided to strengthen evaluation systems and leadership capacity development to ensure the sustainability of these positive impacts.
