Abstract

One way to implement community service is through student mentoring and community service activities. This community service program, which is a program of lecturers and students, focuses on providing community service to 10 orphans at the QIS Community Service Institute (LKP QIS) in Surabaya. The purpose of this service was to provide students with an initial overview of community service activities, which are part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The method used in this service was Participatory Action Research, with the author directly involved in its implementation. The results were mentoring and student service programs to improve English language skills for orphans and students, conducted through seminars, workshops, and field visits to the QIS Community Service Institute. Mentoring orphans and student service programs at the QIS Community Service Institute enhanced students' knowledge and experience in improving English language skills for orphans through direct field visits to the QIS Community Service Institute training site. Furthermore, it also encouraged students to play a greater role in society in the future. This was evident in the students' increased motivation after completing the mentoring and student service activities.
